Introduction for compliance testing according EU

The testing of a sample against the EU legislation consist of a number of discrete steps

  1. Check the composition against the relevant legislation. All components must be on the positive list and as a result some tests to be performed. For parts of the composition that are not covered by the EU Directives (like colorants, catalysts) it must be proven that they are safe as is required in Article 3 of EU No 1935/2004.
  2. Select the simulants and test conditions
  3. Perform the relevant tests like overall migrations and the experiments which were the result of the compositional check (specific migrations, residual contents and other tests.

A more detailed description of the tests can be found by clicking on the names of the test above in the menu.
